Automatic Ice was founded in 1961 by Sid Singer. Realizing
that the refrigeration industry in New Jersey did not have
a distributor “specializing” in the growing market
of commercial ice making equipment, Sid set up shop in a
small “shoebox” office in Hillside.
Sid spent the following years building the business by
establishing himself and his company, as a distributor
the refrigeration
industry could trust. Sid’s reputation was further
enhanced by the fact he spent countless hours assisting dealers
when service problems arose.
1974
brought two major changes to Automatic Ice:
The
addition of Douglas Singer to the company.
The
business relocating to larger facilities on the other
side of Hillside.
1980 Brought Two More Major Changes to Automatic Ice
The addition of Jordan Singer to the company.
With it’s reputation firmly entrenched as New Jersey’s
Ice Machine Specialists, Douglas and Jordan set out to
expand the product lines the company distributed. Reach-In
Boxes,
Walk-In Boxes, Deli Cases, and Beverage Equipment quickly
enhanced the scope of products Automatic Ice distributed.
Phase Three
In 1999, Automatic Ice went into “Phase Three” with
the company moving to a larger facility in Middlesex. The
move was necessitated by the need for more warehouse space
to be
able to stock an ever-increasing array of products.
Phase Four
2002/2003 - With Hoshizaki Ice Machines as the base line of
equipment, Automatic Ice becomes New Jersey’s
Beverage Air and American Range distributors. This
allowed the company
to outfit food service establishments with all their
equipment needs.
2004 - Automatic Ice becomes the MasterBilt Refrigerator Solutions
adding Ice Cream Cabinets and Display Merchandisers.
2005 - The company is appointed the Continental Refrigerator
distributor.
“The More Things Change, The More
They Stay The Same”
The company does sell a much wider scope of products that
it ever did before – we sell in a week, what we used
to sell in two months. We have computers, faxes, cell phones,
electronic mail, and all sorts of modern technology.
What
hasn't changed is Sid Singer's Philosophy.
Take
Care of the Dealer
Sell Only Quality Equipment
Have Parts in Stock
Know what you are talking about
Be honest in your business dealings
Don't run away from problems
My goal as owner of Automatic Ice is to always maintain that “The
Dealer comes first”. Although our family owned and
operated business has grown, we vow never to forget our success
depends
on your continued support.
